Transition Plans: Report of the Platform for Sustainable Finance

On 23 January 2025, the Platform for Sustainable Finance published a report on the assessment of climate-related transition plans. The Platform will host a free webinar on the report on January 27, 2025 to explain its key content.

The core elements of a transition plan identified in the report are intended to help financial market participants assessing the credibility and robustness of companies’ transition plans. The report also contains recommendations to the European Commission on how to improve the effectiveness of the legal framework and support the market to provide and access transition finance.

The Platform is an expert group that advises the European Commission on the EU environmental taxonomy and sustainable finance issues. At the same time, EFRAG, in its role as another expert group, is currently working on an implementation guidance intended to clarify the reporting obligations of ESRS E1 on transition plans which is to be publicly consulted at the beginning of this year.
