Taxonomy Regulation: New FAQs published

On 29 November 2024, the European Commission published draft FAQs to clarify issues relating to the Taxonomy Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2020/852) and the associated delegated acts. The draft is initially only available in English and is expected to be published in the Official Journal of the EU in all official EU languages in 2025, although its content may still be amended by then.

The draft mainly contains clarifications on the application of the technical screening criteria. However, it also contains general clarifications and clarifications on the reporting of taxonomy disclosures. For example, there are clarifications on the reporting of prior-year information (question 146), the application of the reporting templates (questions 147, 149 and 155) and the verification of compliance with the technical screening criteria by independent third-party certifiers (question 7).

Further FAQs were published in the Official Journal of the EU on 8 November 2024 (Commission Notice C/2024/7494). These FAQs were first published as a draft on 21 December 2023 and have since been translated into all official EU languages and slightly amended in terms of content.

The ASCG will continue to engage with developments on the Taxonomy Regulation. In the past, we held thirteen user forums on the Taxonomy Regulation with our member companies and associations. The problems and possible solutions discussed in the user forums were forwarded to the European Commission in the form of submissions. Some of the issues raised in the submissions are also addressed in the FAQ documents published by the European Commission. Additional information can be found on the relevant ASCG project page.
