‘Stop the Clock’ initiative of Omnibus 1: Publication in the EU Official Journal

On 16 April 2025, Directive (EU) 2025/794 on the so-called ‘stop-the-clock’ initiative was published in the EU Official Journal. The EU member states are required to transpose the EU directive into national law until 31 December 2025.

Background:

On 26 February 2025, the European Commission issued the first package of proposals for reducing the administrative burden on entities. The so-called ‘Omnibus 1’ proposal to amend the Accounting Directive, the CSRD and the CSDDD as well as the Audit Directive is part of this package. The Stop-the-clock-initiative to postpone the effective date of the CSRD and the CSDDD was made in addition to and separately from the aforementioned proposals.
