ASCG to host outreach events on the IASB’s Discussion Paper DP/2020/1 Business Combinations – Disclosures, Goodwill and Impairment

The ASCG invites all interested parties to two public outreach events involving representatives of EFRAG and the IASB. The topic of the event will be the IASB’s Discussion Paper DP/2020/1 Business Combinations – Disclosures, Goodwill and Impairment (we reported).

We would like to use these events to discuss with you the preliminary views of the participating standard setters. Also, we seek the exchange to your views on the changes and preliminary decisions of the IASB proposed in the Discussion Paper.

Interested parties are invited to attend one of the two alternative meetings:

• Friday, 23 October 2020 from 12.30-14.30 and 15.00-17.00 or
• Monday, 2 November 2020 from 10.00-12.00 and 13.00-15.00.

The events will be held in German and – due to COVID-19-related restrictions – web-based.

Participation is free of charge. For logistical reasons, we kindly ask you to register your interest by sending an email to bahrmann@drsc.de before 19 October 2020. We also ask you to inform us on which date you would like to participate.

In addition, we would like to draw the attention of preparers with active M&A agendas or material goodwill amounts in their financial statements to the questionnaire published by EFRAG on the discussion paper. The purpose of this questionnaire is also to gather feedback on the proposals in the IASB Discussion Paper and on the proposals in EFRAG’s draft comment letter.
