IFRS Foundation appoints four further inaugural ISSB members

On 8 June 2022 the IFRS Foundation announced the appointment of Richard Barker, Verity Chegar, Bing Leng and Ndidi Nnoli-Edozien as inaugural members of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB).

In December 2021 and January 2022 Emmanuel Faber and Sue Lloyd had been appointed as Chair and Vice-Chair of the ISSB.
The further appointments are staggered and will start in July 2022. Announcements to achieve the quorum of the ISSB of eight members in total are expected shortly. The aim is to complete the appointment of the inaugural members of the ISSB during the third quarter of 2022.

The ISSB aims at developing a comprehensive global baseline for sustainability disclosures. On 31 March 2022 the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) delivered two proposals and additional documents in order to create that global baseline.

The Exposure Drafts (ED) on Sustainability reporting for public consultation are: ED IFRS S1 General Requirements for Disclosure of Sustainability-related Financial Information and ED IFRS S2 Climate-related Disclosures.

The ISSB is seeking feedback on the proposals with the consultation period closing on 29 July 2022.

Together with the ISSB the DRSC on 21 June 2022 will host an outreach at the Goethe Universität in Frankfurt am Main to allow all stakeholders to engage in a discussion about these Exposure Drafts with Emmanuel Faber and members of the ISSB’s technical staff.
