A special day in Berlin

On 2 July 2015, the ASCG honored his former long-standing secretary general and president, Dr. h.c. Liesel Knorr with a festive ceremony with guests from Germany and abroad.

In the historic Siemens building in Berlin, the event began with speeches of the State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection, Dr. Stefanie Hubig, the Chairman of the Administrative Board of ASCG, Dr. Ralf P. Thomas (CFO Siemens AG), as well as Mr. Jochen Pape, who was a member and the vice-chairman of the former German Accounting Standards Board for many years.

The past and the future of the German and international accounting were subject to two panel discussions. During the first panel Ms. Knorr, Prof. Dr. Nonnenmacher (former board spokesman of KPMG AG), Dr. Werner Brandt (Trustee of the IFRS Foundation) and Prof. Dr. Klaus Naumann (Executive member of the Board of Directors of the IDW – Institute of Public Auditors in Germany, Incorporated Association) reviewed the past 17 years. The second panel discussion which were held by Liesel Knorr, Hans Hoogervorst (Chairman of the IASB), Prof. Dr. Joachim Gassen (Humboldt University Berlin), Dr. Christoph Huetten (SAP SE) and Heiner Kompenhans (Deloitte & Touche GmbH) included the future of the international accounting.

Another highlight was the appearance of Mr. Sebastian Hakelmacher who paid tribute to Liesel Knorr with a satirical speech (only in a German version)

The day ended with a get-together.
